My work with individuals, couples, caregivers, and families has been a desire of mine ever since the third grade. Although I went to college to become an actress and enjoyed a career in costume and wardrobe, I had always longed to have a deeper way of helping others. Therapy to me is like giving you a voice for your feelings. It's gratifying to see the growth in those I help as they tackle and overcome the challenges that confronted them when they first came to see me.
My training has consisted of working with Patrick Carnes CSAT trained Psychotherapist, Susanne Pelka, PhD. I am certified member with AACAST, American Association of Couples and Sex Therapist. I am EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) trained in Basic I & II. In addition to EMDR for help with trauma, I am certified in TRM (Trauma Resiliency Model.) My
Masters in Psychology comes from Phillips Graduate Institute, and my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts come from New York University. Previously I worked in the entertainment industry and am uniquely aware of creative people and their challenges with the industry.
My clients often come to therapy for a specific issue to tackle. Over time that issue can evolve to uncover destructive patterns that have detoured them from living the life they desire. Week after week therapy can discover hidden old thought processes that no longer work.
I use my best therapeutic approach that works for the client. My therapeutic methods, includes a Psychodynamic theory, which includes Attachment theory. Many of my clients go to 12-step meeting and I can work with that system as well. I sometimes include meditation and a mindfulpractice approach. CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is sometimes useful as well. We will build on a collaborative experience to create small shifts in thinking and behavior. These small shifts strung along, create lasting changes.
I will provide you with a warm, comfortable, safe and highly confidential experience. I will be there to listen and reflect to you, and you alone. For 50 minutes once a week, we get to focus solely on you. Let’s work together to be the catalyst for the change you deserve.
